Reverse Engineering

Machines outlive their documentation. When a critical component fails and no drawing exists — the supplier is gone, the design data was never handed over, or the part has been modified over decades of service — METALEC's reverse engineering service recreates, optimises and manufactures it.

We start from the physical part, capturing its geometry with precision measurement and reconstructing an accurate CAD model and manufacturing drawing. Materials and hardness are assessed so the replacement matches — or improves on — the original specification. Where the original design had known weaknesses, we take the opportunity to fix them: better material, added radii at stress points, tighter fits where wear was the failure mode.

The result is more than a one-off replacement. Customers receive proper documentation — models, drawings and material specifications — turning an undocumented legacy part into a manufacturable, repeatable item they control. For obsolete equipment, that can be the difference between a short stoppage and a production line that never runs again.
